3 years in Corporate
It's been a while since I started to work in corporate.
Its been a roller coaster ride and I have few learnings. Here I am sharing them with you.
- The company you choose to work with - will make or break you.
My personality has grown tremendously over the years. Now how do you get to know if the company you're entering is any good? First - do gather all the information from the internet you can, Research about the company's establishment, its team size - how big it is and thier funding status. Search the members on LinkedIn - check their journey and thier profile - also thier colleges. Check the kind of LinkedIn posts there are - will give you a hint about the culture of the company. Now do check Glassdoor reviews to dive deep into what the employees have to say about the company. - Never share your personal life too soon. Work is worship and it should be respected at all costs. Remember it lets you have that lifestyle you are living, pay your bills, and get that dress. Beware of people who might use your information against you to burn you down.
- Never quit when you have nothing planned as a backup. Never resign when you are angry or face a minor insignificance. No, you won't get another job easily.
- Learning teamwork will teach you patience. The first key to teamwork is accepting people and accepting them for who they are. You will always get to work with different kinds of people - some will be life lessons, some will be acquaintances, and some and only a few lifelong friends.
- Always take time to relax, remember you are also earning to enjoy and have fun not just pay your bills.
- Never kill your hobbies, and likes and never stop that little passion project you want to work on. Sing that song, play that guitar, paint a lot, Run an extra mile, be the foodie on weekends, dance your soul out, and keep honing your skills.
- Always speak up for yourself and keep your boundaries clean. Convey what you cannot accept and tell them what is unacceptable after a certain point. Never be uncomfortable and let things slide which you know will eventually destroy your mental health or work life balance.
